The California
Mathematics Content Standards include understanding
large numbers, place value, and number sense. Knowing how
numbers get bigger (addition) or smaller (subtraction) is one
large step towards understanding multiplication and division,
fractions and decimals, later. As school begins, we will
find out where we are and where we need to go mathematically.
I think math is fun. We will follow the San Diego Unified
School Districts Math Modules guidelines to meet the California
State Standards.
Here are some ideas to help us with
our mathematics:
* .Family of Facts: 2+3=5
3+2=5 5-2=3 5-3=2 It is a
relationship between three numbers.
* Skip-counting sets the
stage for higher mathematics.
* Number lines help to
build number sense
* Estimation is more than a
guess. What do we need to consider when making
estimations?
