Weekly Homework:
NEW: Saxon Phonics is a program
that allows students to look at phonics in a systematic way.
We are learning the value of letters, letter combinations and
syllables. Students do a worksheet in class and bring home
the backside to do at home with you watching and guiding if
necessary. This worksheet is to be returned everyday!
Weekly homework packets are given
to students every Friday and returned the following
Friday. Homework is a small sample of what we are doing in
class. Students
should read every day for a sustained amount of time. Twenty
minutes a night is a good amount for most First Graders.
Student should write a sentence or two about their reading. They
can keep a journal and/or log it on their Reading Logs. This
will help them to become more proficient readers, and better public
speakers.
Math: Adding and subtracting
games help to make math fun. We consider place value,
number charts, number lines, and sum and difference stories,
too.. |
